So a quick reminder that our painting party is tomorrow from 1pm-10pm with lots of yummy food and great company. We’ll also have membership information and good music.

But more excitingly we have two upcoming events. On September 1st is our first members meeting. Then on Thursday September 9th we’re going to have our grand opening fundraiser and founding member gallery show opening. There will be wonderful music, yummy snacks, and engaging conversation not to mention a raffle, door prizes, surprises, and maybe even a pinata if Claire has the time to make one. So mark your calendars and we’ll see you then!

There’s a lot more painting to be done so we’re going to have Painting Party Part II (the sequel) this Saturday August 28th from 1pm until 10pm (then probably an hour clean-up)! There’s a lot that needs to be painted and done so we could really use your help! There will be homemade pizza and sweet tea and not-so-homemade beer. It’s going to be lots of fun and we hope to see you there! The address is 2626 University Blvd.

In other news mark your calendars for our Grand Opening Fundraiser Party/Founding Members Show Opening on Thursday September 9th. We are set to open on September 1st and will have a member meeting then!

Wall painting party this Sunday (8/22). at noon until we are tired, full or drunk. We’ll have pizza and beer and, of course, lots of fun ;). It’s at 27th and University Blvd and the address is 2626 University Blvd. Remember to wear crappy clothes and bring a paintbrush, rollers, or a ladder (or step-stool) is you have them. Thanks!

Also, still looking for members! We have private studios for 4-6 individual artists for rent of $100 a month and offer a general studio membership for $25-$50,
(sliding scales for work/trade and/or student rates) with access to
the communal studio areas, tools, equipment including a platen press
for letterpress printing, screen printing set up, bindery tools, paper
making, silversmithing (we’re working on ceramics and a b&w darkroom)
as well as a zine library, gallery space and opportunities for taking
and teaching workshops, and of course access to this wonderful community of artists with whon you can discuss and collaborate!

Alabama Art Kitchen Founded!

We just found a lovely home on 27th and University Boulevard in Tuscaloosa, Alabama! We’re in a quirky Victorian from the early 1900s. We’re looking for members so if you are interested or know someone
that might want to become a member of the Alabama Art Kitchen let us
know. We are going to be needing a lot of supplies/tools/equipment so
if anyone has any leads or ideas, please send them our way. We are
planning on hitting the Restore for paint and hopefully some other
things but we’ll be needing a lot tables, shelves, general supplies,
etc. We’re going to get a wish list and website together soon.
